Some are made from ‘Mogador’ which is a fabric combination of cotton and silk. ‘Mogador’ neckties are often of stripe design and the cotton addition makes this Italian necktie very soft to touch.  Stanley Lewis designer neckties are also available in a 70% Wool and 30% Silk combination making them the perfect statement for the winter season.  Available in Plaid and Tartan designs, these neckties are ideal for a more casual dress code. Another impressive version of silk ties is a fabric called ‘Faille’. ‘Faille’ is made of a 60% Wool and 40% Silk combination and boasts a heavier texture than traditional silk ties made from 100% silk.

This weight is derived from a combination of the weight of the silk and the weight of the interlining.  It should be noted that the weight of men’s ties has no bearing on the quality of neckties. It is a matter of personal taste only.  If you prefer more robust neckties and the Four-in-Hand knot, heavier weight men’s ties are the answer. For a softer drape appearance and a Windsor knot, the lighter weight designer neckties are perfect.
