To Die For Mens Cufflinks

Men’s cufflinks originated in the 18th century where simple, paste-glass buttons had given way to pairs of two, decoratively painted or jeweled studs, typically diamonds, connected by ornate gold links. Men’s cufflinks were initially worn by the emperors and court men, and represented a symbol of grandeur. This is reason enough as to why today men are so fond of bejeweled cufflinks.

Men are limited by accessories in fashion. One of the few basic accessories that give personality to a man includes handcrafted cufflinks. There is a wide range of cufflinks which are provided for men, from the silver cufflinks to the more elaborate designer cufflinks and the most exquisite handcrafted pieces. They may be used to create a mark in the professional world or as a symbol of opulence. On the other hand, some might have a fetish for them and just have a large collection.

When we talk of simple glass men’s cufflinks they come in mottled colors, made of glass. They are crafted to be worn with formal clothes. As they are in a pair and fixed in the place of buttons, it is required to have a shirt with French Cuffs. For the more exquisite pieces, Silver cufflinks are the pick. These are made of sterling silver. Sterling is silver of fineness of 925 parts per thousand i.e. 92.5% silver alloyed with 75 parts per hundred i.e. 7.5% copper. Copper adds to the hardness of the material, which is specially used to craft cufflinks. Its gets conglomerated with the silver without changing its colour. The silver cufflinks can be embedded with an immense variety of jewels like cubic zircons, crystals, natural and imitation stones. It is then covered with a layer of rhodium which prevents the sterling silver from tarnishing and scratching.

Designer Cufflinks are more elaborate in design, with famous designers crafting them with exuding passion. These can be made from materials like brass and other suitable metals, with various types of finishing such as enamel, two tone, etc. Other designer cufflinks may be studded with cat eyes, onyx or crystals. A more expensive variety of cufflinks are handmade cufflinks, which are exquisitely designed according to the taste of the customers. Handmade cufflinks make use of different metals and gemstones to create unique pieces. They are versatile, so you can use them any time of the day or at any occasion and they become even more special because they are handmade.  These should be worn with pride.

Choosing a Linen Pocket Square

A suit or a sports coat with an empty breast pocket is unfinished business. Purposely created to harmonize with other men’s accessories the pochette collection has been inspired by the need for balance. There are not only many different colors, patterns, and pocket square styles to choose from, but there are also quite a few different ways to fold a pochette.

If a suit and tie is part of the regular work attire, then there is probably a good chance of getting a little bored with the same look everyday. Looking to add a more unique style, a pair of brown shoes, brown belt, as well as French cuffed shirts worn with a set of cufflinks may be added. Still on the search for more accessories that add style to an outfit, consider wearing a Linen pocket square.

The most formal Linen pocket square is a solid color, usually white. Less formal are solid navy blue and burgundy red hankies. And least formal but still very classy, are pochettes with more color and more design. A paisley pattern pochette in burgundy red, green, and navy blue is more casual and will add a very elegant-sophisticated touch without appearing too formal.

The true fashion expert will wear a pochette that has its own unique color and pattern and matches well to the rest of the outfit. As a general rule, combine colors that are part of the same color family. A pastel tone square in a light blue color will look great with neckties that are also in lighter pastel colors such as light pink, orange, and lime green. If you like to wear a  Linen pocket square with more pattern, then make sure to vary the pattern size on the pocket square, dress shirt, jacket, and the necktie.

Many centuries ago, Pochettes were used as men's handkerchiefs for hygienic purposes - that's all there is to it! Prior to the 17th century, only the upper society used such until it was also practiced by the lower classes. Not intended to be a fashion accessory, they were used just like ordinary hankies are today, tucked in the pants instead of the breast pocket. It was only regarded as a classic accessory when the suit design with pocket squares came in early 20th Century. With that, along came the many intriguing folding techniques. And so today, the pocket square remains an important men’s accessories when trying to add a little extra style to an outfit.
